AN UPDATE ON OUR LIFE
It seems unbelievable. Just last week our world turned upside down when we learned Linda has stage-four ovarian cancer. A whirlwind of tests and procedures has created the illusion that we’ve been on this road for months.
Our doctor gave us several options. We’ve chosen the Gerson Institute, a clinic based on radical nutritional therapy. After decades, they continue to report amazing results. We checked in Wednesday, and we’ll be here for two weeks.
The clinic’s philosophy is that cancer primarily results from our diet and lifestyle. God designed the human body to heal itself. Gerson overloads your system with raw organic juices and vitamin injections, followed by a procedure designed to rid the liver of toxins. For modesty sake, I won’t describe it. Let’s just say it rhymes with “cinema.” The food is great, except for the absence of salt, sugar, meat, fat, white flour, and chemical additives. Doctors have subjected Linda to a myriad of tests to personalize her treatments. The clinic insists that each patient be accompanied by a companion, which would be me. Linda feels better than she’s felt in months.
It’s incredible that in one week we’ve gone from getting “the news” to being immersed in a totally new way of life. Looking back at the obstacles we faced in order to arrive here, we see God’s hand at every point. Too many details fell into place for this to be a coincidence.
We continue to strongly believe that God will heal Linda. We battle daily with the struggle to slip into negativity, and “what-if-ing” about the future. For now, here’s what He’s showing us:
Live in the moment. Jesus taught, “Do not worry about tomorrow. Tomorrow will take care of itself” (Matthew 6:34). Why ruin today, by future-tripping about tomorrow?
Embrace reality. We don’t have to like it, but it’s still reality. We’re discovering that accepting “what is,” brings much more joy than throwing a fit about it.
Most of all, trust in the Lord. He really does want what’s best for us, and works overtime to accomplish his purpose. We simply need to wait on Him. Psalm 130:6-7 declares, “Keep waiting on the Lord, for he is tenderhearted, kind, and forgiving. He has a thousand ways to set you free!” (TPT).
Thanks for the outpouring of love and prayers. Please keep praying.
